Electric guitar and drum machine
Circa 1987, I started playing guitar in high school in guitar class. I got a Sigma (sp?) acoustic which had a great sound. My electric guitar was a cheapy $200 guitar and I got a $200 Marshall amplifier. The amplifier made it sound sweet. It had a delicious bass-heavy distortion sound.
I composed guitar songs from the beginning of when I started playing. Most of my early songs sounded like crap. My compositions got steadily better though.
I recorded a bunch of songs circa 1991 - 1994 using two stereos, a drum machine, and me playing the guitar. On some songs, I used a distortion pedal to switch from clean to distorted. The distortion pedal didn't sound that good so I usually just used the amplifier's distortion. Most songs have two guitars playing. I recorded one with the drums, then played back the first recording and recorded another guitar on top of it. These songs were all recorded in my old bedroom, in my parents' house back in Kenner, Louisiana.
Songs 17, 18, and 19 are all comprised of parts that I originally composed on the Tandy first. I then transcribed them to guitar and played them and recorded them. Song 17 is an extremely short waltz, that my wife likes to call "Ice Cream". Song 18 was meant to sound punky. The beginning of song 19 is incredibly cool.
Songs 23 and 24 are the same, except for song 23, I tuned down my guitar by 7 half steps.
The best songs are #1 and #11.
I am also including my songs for download below.
